At Troop 72, we are dedicated to building character, leadership and a lifelong spirit of adventure. Rooted in the core values of the Scout Oath and Law, our troop provides a supportive, engaging environment where youth develop essential life skills, teamwork and confidence through exciting outdoor and community-focused activities.
Troop 72 has produced over 90 Eagle Scouts since its inception in 1934, including 5 in just the last year. This year at summer camp our scouts earned nearly 100 merit badges.
We are committed to providing an opportunity for boys to experience the outdoors through monthly weekend campouts and annual high-adventure trips that include backpacking and canoeing.
Weekly meetings are where skills are learned and adventures are planned.
When: Every Tuesday from 7:00 to 8:30 PM (unless otherwise noted on the calendar).
Where: Troop 72 Scout Hut, 418 SE 3rd Street, Ocala.
We take pride in our appearance because it reflects our commitment to Scouting values.
Class A (Field Uniform): Required for all official troop meetings, courts of honor, and public events.
Class B (Troop T-Shirt): Worn for active campouts, service projects, and casual outdoor activities where a field uniform isn't practical.
We celebrate hard work and steady progress.
The Path Forward: Scouts advance in rank by learning skills, participating in events, showing Scout spirit, completing service projects, and taking on leadership roles.
Courts of Honor: Three times a year we celebrate rank advancements and merit badges at our Courts of Honor.
Troop 72 is lead by a committed group of adults, many with decades of service to the troop. We are always looking for parents to pitch in.
